Spring Break Camping at Piney Campground in LBL

Well we’ve made it to the other side of the long winter! We took a week off last week and headed to our favorite, local campground, Piney in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area!

This was our first camping trip of the season AND our first week-long trip! We now have ticked off 4 nights in the camper. We are hoping we will get close to 30 nights this year if we camp once a month until Fall.

We had a pretty nice and mild week of weather and we enjoyed our campsite that had great views of Kentucky Lake but wasn’t directly on the lake side. The kids absolutely LOVED camping this past week even on the chilly and windy days. They loved being outside and we loved doing so many fun things around the campground.

Sister bear loved the sand at the playground!
Our view for the week!
Obligatory hotdog roasting one evening.
We had friends that came to visit and play with us.
H approves of the new playground they just installed!

Enjoying the beautiful sunset over KY Lake!

Daddy’s campfire game was strong!
Fun neighbors that we got to know.
This boy loves him some camping even if it’s chilly.
We were a short walk to the lake.

Skipping rocks and collecting shells

H loved finding shells!

We had such a fun time just enjoying being together. Michael’s parents and my Aunt and Uncle were also camping down there part of the week so we loved being able to visit with them. We also explored some of the things around LBL that we never seem to have time to even though we live right near them. We went to the Elk and Bison Range and to the 1950s Homeplace. I will share those pictures next time.

  1. It’s turned off cold here again this week. It was pretty windy our last days there and it stormed one night. We found out that it’s really hard to sleep in the camper (our bed is over the hitch and slides out) when it’s storming. It’s really loud! LOL
